Mahjong is coming to Makers Yard, acclaimed St. Louis chef and restaurateur Ben Poremba’s hospitality hub that’s home to Florentin, Nixta, and new pizza concept Del Bono. Settle in for open or guided play inside Florentin’s sun-filled café, take your game out to the patio, or take a seat at one of our mahjong tables on the Makers Yard lawn for an afternoon of mahj al fresco.
Meet Me at Mahj is Magpie’s signature mahjong open play event where everything you need to play is provided, so you can simply show up, settle in, and enjoy the game. Come with friends or arrive solo and meet new mahj friends at a welcoming table of players. Order food and drinks from Israeli-inspired cafe Florentin, or pop over to neighboring Makers Yard eateries Nixta or Del Bono.
All levels are welcome, but there is no formal lesson during this event; open play is intended for players who have completed a Mahjong 101 lesson or already have playing experience. If you’re newer to the game and still building confidence, sign up for Guided Play, and you’ll have the help of Magpie instructor, Ali.
