Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. - Meet Me at Mahj Mahjong Open Play at the Piper Palm House in Tower Grove Park
A mahjong night you won’t want to miss! Join Magpie Mahjong for a special open-play event at the beautiful, historic Piper Palm House conservatory in Tower Grove Park. Meet Me at Mahj is Magpie’s signature mahjong open play night with everything you need to play—beautiful mahjong tiles, designer mats, and accessories—so you can just show up and have fun. Attend with friends or come alone and meet new mahj friends!
Drinks will be available for purchase from STL Barkeep, the team behind The Vandy and Off Elm. You’re welcome to bring your own tile-friendly snacks.
Come early and shop female-owned businesses (details to come!).
All levels welcome but there is not instruction during this event; open play is for players who have completed a 101 lesson or have mahjong playing experience. If you’re newer to the game, especially if you’re fresh off a Magpie 101 or 102, instructor Ali Salter will be on hand to guide you and offer tips as needed.

This is an event with open seating; Magpie Mahjong does not assign seats. If you’re attending with a friend or group, it’s best to arrive on time to secure your table together.

St. Louis Fall Mahjong League - Hosted by Magpie Mahjong & Tower Grove Park
Mahjong league is back! Join us Tuesday nights this September for Fall Mahjong League, a four-week American mahjong league intended for beginner-friendly competition, social play, and community. This is your weekly mahjong date! You’ll be assigned to a new table weekly to experience new tiles and new friendly competition. Compete for fabulous mahjong prizes for the top three finishers (including a tile set—more details to come!). If you know how to play mahjong independently, you’re ready for league!
Dates: September 8, 15, 22 & 29
Play time: 7 to 9 p.m. - Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
